Bergen County Prosecutor’s Charge Wayne Man with Aggravated Sexual Assault

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s office has announced that they have arrested and charged a twenty-one year old Wayne man with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The Defendant is currently being held in the Bergen County Jail on a $300,000 bail. If convicted, the Defendant is facing decades behinds bars. In addition, aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault fall under the No Early Release Act (NERA). NERA in essence requires a Defendant to serve at least 85% of their sentence before they can become eligible for parole.

It appears that the Bergen County Prosecutor’s office was tipped off by the victim’s mother after she found sexually explicated conversations between her thirteen year old son and the Defendant. These conversations allegedly took place on social media websites. Based on these conversations, the victim was taken to the Prosecutor’s office and gave a detailed statement about his relationship with the Defendant.
